Do you like to design and make products? 

If you like to be creative and make different items then you need to read about Design Technology at Thornbury.

At Thornbury we encourage pupils to apply their knowledge and understanding about what they have learnt through different experiences and use this information to design and make a product.   

We teach children to:

- investigate and evaluate similar products
- learn new skills like cutting, joining etc.
- designing, then making a product
- finally evaluating and improving their product.

Sometimes children are encouraged to work together in a team situation producing one item.

We try to provide children with “real experiences” of Designing and Making establishing links with industry around the area.

Children are continually encouraged to use construction kits to help form their ideas or show an awareness of different working elements eg. gears, structures, levers etc.
