English is at the heart of our curriculum.
As well as a daily Literacy lesson in every year group,
Literacy enhances every area of the curriculum.

Speaking and Listening underpins everything we do!

From the very beginning, we aim to promote a love of reading in our children and use a range of approaches. One of these is our bank of highly successful Story Sacks.

We use Oxford Reading Tree and Breakthrough to Literacy across KS1 to support our children’s Literacy development.

Another key element is role play and we aim to provide a variety of stimulating environments to support our project areas.

As children move into Key Stage 2 we aim to develop further their LiteracyPhoto - Our new Library skills. We have recently opened our brand new library for the Juniors, which has a state of the art system for tracking and loaning books.

Another initiative which has had a big impact on both writing and assessment is our pack of Success Ladders‘. Our Fiction Based projects and Book Week are highlights of our year. Guest authors, poets and dramatists are invited in to share their work.
