Making Music at Thornbury Primary School is all about…
- Having fun making music on our own and in a variety of groups.
- Learning about new instruments from our own culture and from other
cultures and exploring how they are used.
- Listening to our own music and the music composed by other people from different times and places and discussing.
- Performing our own compositions for a variety of audiences and performing other peoples compositions.

- Singing a wide variety of songs both in class and assemblies.
- Going out into the community and sharing our music with a variety of different audiences e.g. carol concerts, arts festivals etc.
- Joining with other schools and organisations to make music.
- Performing at local theatres and halls as a school and with other schools.
- Recording our music in a variety of ways so that we can take it with us when we move on.

- Having music lessons on a variety of instruments provided by Devon
Youth Music or private tutors. Instruments available for learning include: electric keyboard, violin, guitar, flute, clarinet, trumpet and euphonium.
- Joining clubs such as:
- Musical activities club – boomwhackers, computers using software such as Dance Ejay, Super Duper Music Looper and Compose World, and electric keyboards that are midi interfaced.
- Choir
- Junk Band our very own “Wild Thornburys”!
- Orchestra
- Recorder – beginners and advanced
